I am happily married and have two wonderful adult children, an awesome son-in-law, and two beautiful grandchildren.

When did I want to become a teacher? Well, I started babysitting in my neighborhood when I was 11 years old. I was always helping the kids with their homework and doing arts and crafts with them. At church, I also taught classes. Teaching always seemed to be what I was meant to do.

As a senior in high school, I completed my classes by noon and then went directly to work. I worked at a mortgage and loan company. While that job helped me pay for college, it also taught me that I did not want to stay in that line of work.

I attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where I studied to become a teacher. After graduation, I taught in a small town in Monterey County. I then had the amazing opportunity to teach on an Army base in Stuttgart, Germany. After returning from Germany, I taught at private schools in Beverly Hills and Chatsworth.

In 1990, I received my Master's in Education from California State University, Northridge. After several years of working in private schools, I decided that I wanted to return to public education. I was fortunate to begin teaching here at Katherine Elementary School in 1998, and I have never looked back. I found my home. Katherine is truly a wonderful community.

My philosophy is that all students have the right to learn in a safe, quiet, and enriched environment. I believe that everyone should treat one another with kindness and respect. These are the values I strive to model and teach to my students each day.
